Using the Zero-Sort container has the potential of saving us many pounds of recyclables from being thrown into our trash dumpster.Through your efforts we can avoid overfilling the dumpster and help our environment at the same time. We strongly encourage all Washington Park residents to take advantage of this new incentive and opportunity.
Please read through the following lists to determine what and what cannot be placed into the ZERO-SORT container.
ACCEPTABLE
- CARDBOARD: cereal boxes, pasta boxes, shoe boxes, juice boxes (PLEASE BREAK DOWN AND CRUSH ALL BOXES)
- PAPER: newspapers, junk mail, envelopes, catalogs, soft cover books, telephone books, brown bags, magazines and inserts
- PLASTIC: containers #1 - #7 (milk jugs, bleach detergent, shampoo bottles) and rigids (laundry baskets, buckets)
- GLASS: bottles and containers (any color)
- CANS: aluminum, tin, steel containers (pie plates/trays/foil)
NOT ACCEPTABLE
- Window glass, mirrors and light bulbs
- Dishes, Pyrex, ceramics
- Foam packing, Styrofoam, plastic bags
- Recyclables containing food waste, paint or oils
- Hazardous material or universal waste
